This is a very creepy movie every “creature feature” should see at least once! If you like it as much as I did, you may wish to see it far more than once! It’s simply a great movie! It’s well-plotted, well-acted, the creatures are terrifying, and, at least, one setting where some of the action occurs is creepy and claustrophobic: THE MINES. I’d hate to be stuck down there with those living nightmares! This suspenseful, somewhat gory shocker even does an excellent job of building to a chilling climax. No wonder Stephen King liked it so much!
Back when it was new, Stephen King called this movie “a rip_roaring monster movie!” And he was right! I rented this on vhs sometime in the ‘90s and loved it! Likeable, young main characters, a bit of humor, unexpected twists and turns, and some very creepy creatures brought to life by amazing special effects make this a must_see for horror fans who enjoy not only creature features, but those made in the ‘80s, before CGI even existed. To me, that’s the best thing about this well_made nightmare!
